The itch

04 May 2014 / 1 Comment / in Me, myself & I, writing

I itch. A scabbing over of my mind causing me to stretch against the tautness of boredom, of same-ness. I have the urge to do. But what?   To write? To travel? To breathe? To walk and walk and walk… I love spending time alone, it’s not that I want company 24/7. It’s that I feel […]

A marriage blessing for a family of 3

03 May 2014 / 0 Comments / in Photography, Weddings

I recently had the privilege of shooting a wedding blessing for a beautiful couple (Jodi’s from Kommetjjie, Brad’s from the USA) at Red Hill. They already got married back in the States when Jodi was expecting their little boy, and had a blessing (and reception) with the 3 of them at Blue Horizon Estate, with […]

Creative writing morning with Mom

03 May 2014 / 1 Comment / in Family, writing

I spent a lovely couple of hours with Mom this morning, working through some creative writing exercises from a great book she has.  We had coffee, chocolate muffins and apples, sandlewood oil burning, and silence. We’re meeting again next week and have homework 🙂 If I write something worth sharing I may post it on […]

Father, daughter and son shoot at Noordhoek Common

06 Dec 2013 / 0 Comments / in Children, Family, Photography

Last weekend I met with Sean, Skyla and Dylan at Noordhoek Common. We had planned on a beach shoot but the South Easter was pumping. The stream was completely sheltered, deliciously muddy and the perfect setting away from the kiddies parties happening around the rest of the common.

A photo & a poem

20 Oct 2013 / 0 Comments / in loss, writing

Too long, my child Have those rice-paper hands Lain lost in your lap; One holding  Isolation. The other, Dread. Too long, my child Has the soul of you Been a weightless weight on this earth. How I wish I could live  To witness the miracle  Of your magical, Phoenix-like rising, Your bright beauty  Burning on […]
